Our story
From an old bakery to a table for everyone
Ambra was born in 2012 in a bakery on Tkalča street that had fed the neighbourhood for forty years. The oven stayed. We added tables, a wine list and people who love to cook.
The beginning
Six tables and one oven
In the first years we only served breakfast and lunch. We baked bread at night and wrote the menu in chalk on the door, depending on what Dolac market had that morning.
Guests started staying longer, so we opened for dinner too. Today there are twenty of us, but the chalk and the board on the door are still there.
What we believe in
Three rules of our kitchen
Seasonal
The menu changes every week. What is not in season is not on the plate.
Local
Vegetables from Dolac, fish from the Adriatic, wine from small estates from Istria to Slavonia.
No hurry
The table is yours for the whole evening. Nobody will rush you with the bill.
Over the years

People
A kitchen run by people, not trends
Our head chef Luka came from Split with his grandmother’s pašticada recipe and the belief that good food cannot be rushed. Our sommelier Ana chooses the wines herself, at the estates, and will gladly tell you the story behind every bottle.
- Bread baked every morning in the wood-fired oven
- Fish arrives from the Adriatic the same day
- Wines are tasted at the estates before they make the list
